What happened?
On 17 July 2025, the Dutch Public Prosecution Service (Openbaar Ministerie, OM) temporarily disconnected its internal systems from the internet as a precautionary measure. As a result, the OM went offline, and the Judicial Information Service (Justis) was unable to update the Judicial Documentation System (JDS) with new OM information during this period.
System restoration
At the beginning of September, data exchange between the OM and Justis’ JDS was restored. Since then, the OM has worked to process the backlog of registrations.
Justis has confirmed that the system has been fully updated since Friday, 17 October 2025.
What does this mean for Dutch VOG applications?
- As of 17 October 2025, VOG applications are once again being assessed using fully up-to-date OM information.
- For applications submitted before 17 October, a PES note will still be included in the screening report, indicating that these applications were processed using OM information up to 17 July 2025.
What does this mean for you?
Your VOG application can be submitted and processed as usual. Since 17 October, all processing has resumed with current data, and there are no longer any limitations in the availability of OM information.
Next steps
This situation has now been resolved, and no further action is required. Should any new updates from Justis or the OM become available, we will inform you through this communication channel.
